LOVE IS IN THE AIR

Hey Reader,

As Valentine's hearts and roses fill the air, I'm reminded that love's true magic lies in the everyday moments we share. While February 14th may be dedicated to romance, real love knows no calendar—it blooms fresh with each sunrise.

This truth crystallized for me last Valentine's Day through an unexpected gesture that changed my perspective. After a routine workday, I opened my door to find my home transformed—dozens of heart-shaped balloons danced in the air, and among them, a handwritten note that brought tears of joy streaming down my face.

Yet in that moment of overwhelming emotion, I realized something profound. What moved me wasn't just this grand romantic display—it was how it represented countless everyday expressions of love throughout our relationship. Surprise lunches delivered to my desk just because. Late-night drives home to ensure my safety. The way they put down their phone and truly listened whenever I needed to talk. These simple acts showed me I was treasured not just on special occasions, but every single day.

It struck me then: Valentine's Day isn't about proving our love—it's about celebrating the love we consistently show. The chocolates, flowers, and candlelit dinners are beautiful, but they're just exclamation points in the love story we're writing together daily.

True love, I've learned, is a moment-by-moment choice. It's choosing each other first thing in the morning and last thing at night. It's listening not just with our ears but with our hearts. It's showing up—not just for the Instagram-worthy moments, but for the quiet, ordinary ones that weave the fabric of our shared life. The grandest Valentine's gesture can't compare to the warmth of knowing someone chooses to love you not just on special days, but in all the beautiful, ordinary moments in between.

Consistency is like compound interest, except instead of cash flow, you’re growing skills, confidence, and discipline.

Hey Reader Let’s be honest, consistency doesn’t sound sexy. It’s not flashy, like motivational quotes on Instagram, or as dramatic as “follow your passion!” But here’s the secret: consistency is that paper tape that holds your life together. Image Credit: Ant Colony - Insect Lore It’s the reason athletes improve, writers actually finish books, and plants survive when we remember to water them regularly. Doing small things consistently is what makes them begin looking like magic, rather than...

Brain fog and focus

Hey Reader On campus, I watched schoolmates breeze through lectures while I struggled to make it past the first fifteen minutes without my mind wandering. Lecturers called it laziness. I called it exhausting. Image Credit: BBC Science Years later, nothing changed. I just learnt to work around it. Now I juggle three remote gigs. Customer service in the morning, data entry in the afternoon, and freelance writing whenever I can squeeze it in. Different logins, different deadlines, different...

Hey Reader I remember walking down the dusty campus road one humid evening, earbuds in, the sun painting everything gold. Burna Boy’s voice crackled through the cheap earphones I bought for ₦500 at the campus market, a line from Gbona echoing louder than the rest: “You no get money, you dey call police...”It hit different that day. Not just as a lyric, but as a mirror. There’s something about music in Nigeria especially from artists like Burna Boy that carries more than sound. Beneath the...
